WORDSearch 7 FAQ's

Installing WORDsearch 7

Do I need WORDsearch 5 or Bible Explorer before I get WORDsearch 7?

No, WORDsearch 7 is a stand alone program.

Will WORDsearch 7 install on top of my WORDsearch 5?

No, WORDsearch 7 is a separate program from WORDsearch 5 and is installed a different directory.

Why do some of my books have red question marks by them?

This red question mark means that the book is unlocked but needs to be installed. To install the missing book(s):

  1. Insert the eBook library volume 1 CD.
  2. Click on one of the books with a red question mark.
  3. Select "Install all missing books" and click "Install from CD".
  4. Change the "D:" in the Book installer dialog if your CD drive is not the D drive.
  5. Click Search.
  6. When it is done scanning volume 1, insert eBook library volume 2 CD.
  7. Click Search.
  8. When it is done scanning volume 2, insert eBook library volume 3 CD.
  9. Click Search.
  10. When it is done scanning volume 3, click Done.

When I try to install books from the eBook library CDs, I get a message, "No books were installed from this disk, please insert another CD or press the Done Button."

If you get this message, it just means that none of your missing books were found on that particular eBook library CD, and you need to continue the process by inserting the next library CD. Insert the next eBook library CD and wait about 30 seconds for your computer to recognize the CD. Change the "D:" in the Book installer dialog if your CD drive is not the D drive. Click Search.

Conversion of WORDsearch 5 Data

How does the conversion of WORDsearch 5 books work?

During the installation of WORDsearch 7, it will run a WS7 Import program to search for data you had in WORDsearch 5 and import it into WORDsearch 7. The program scans the hard drive for STEP books purchased from WORDsearch and their unlock keys. It will make a list of these books and unlock them in WORDsearch 7.

What if I had WORDsearch 5 but it is no longer on my hard drive?

Call our Customer Service at 1-800-888-9898 to unlock your WS5 books in WORDsearch 7.

Can I read my WS5 desktops, personal commentary and personal topics in WORDsearch 7?

The WORDsearch 7 import program will search for these WS5 files and it will convert the data for WORDsearch 7. The personal topics will show up under My Documents in the WS7 library. Your personal commentary and the Ref lists and Desktop Notes from your Desktops will show up under My Verse lists in the WS7 library.

What if some of my WORDsearch 5 books are missing in WS7?

Open WS7 and click on Change the view options in the library window. Select "Title, Author" on the view options list. This will help you look for specific books that seem to be missing. Some WS5 books are under different categories in WS7. There is a chart of the WS5 books and their categories and where they are now in WS7. Click here to look at that chart.

Also please note:

  1. Bible Outlines are now in the Bibles. Open a Bible and click on the Show/Hide the Table of Contents icon to see the Bible's outline.
  2. Bible Commentaries are also now in the Bibles. When you look at the Table of Contents of a Bible, you will see those Bibles with Commentary have Introductions to the Book, Front and Back Matter, etc.

Why are my Dake books not converting?

When you install WORDsearch 7, the program will find your Dake books on your hard drive and will unlock them in WORDsearch 7. All your Dake books except the Dake Study Notes will show up in the library with a red question mark. We do not sell those other Dake Books and therefore we cannot provide you with those files. However, Dake Publishing has converted those STEP books to the new CROSS format and has given them to us to make available to you by download. If the Dake books were imported into WS7 with a red question mark, you can now click on the book and select "Install All Missing Books". This should put all your Dake books in the Download box so that you can start downloading them. WS7 could only import your Dake books if they were installed on your hard drive. So, the best thing is to install the Dake books and run the WS7 import program. You can run the import program by typing C:Program FilesWORDsearch 7ws7Import.exe in your Start | Run box.

Where is my Treasury of Scripture Knowledge?

In WORDsearch 5, the TSK was a book on the bookshelf. In WORDsearch 7, it does not show up in the Library but rather in the Bible window's Cross References pane. Open a Bible and click on the Cross Refs icon (looks like a chain). Click on the "+" (plus sign) next to My Library and then click on the "+" (plus sign) next to Bibles. You will see the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.
